  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 cup plain bread crumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Vegetable or canola oil

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine Monterey jack cheese, pepper jack cheese, jalapeños, and minced garlic until well blended.
  2. Prepare the coating by whisking together flour with salt and pepper in one bowl. In another bowl, beat eggs with water. In a third bowl, mix bread crumbs with garlic powder and cayenne pepper.
  3. Scoop the cheese mixture into bite-sized balls. Dip each ball in the flour mixture, followed by the egg wash, then coat in bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the coated balls until golden brown on all sides (about 3 minutes) and drain on paper towels.
