  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  2. Whisk together eggs, ice water, and lemon juice; add to the flour mixture and mix until combined.
  3. Split dough into two pieces; refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Toss apples with sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and vanilla.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F. Roll out the larger dough piece to fit a greased 9×13-inch pan; fill with apple mixture.
  6. Roll out remaining dough for the top crust; place over filling and cut vents.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before glazing.
