Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon parsley
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 tablespoons milk (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ranch dressing by whisking together mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add milk to achieve desired consistency and refrigerate.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.
  3. Dip each mushroom slice into the egg mixture first before dredging it in the flour mixture to ensure full coating.
  4. Let the coated mushrooms rest for about 5 minutes.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushrooms in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to drain excess oil on paper towels.
  6. Serve warm with chilled ranch dressing.
