Instructions

- In a mixing bowl, combine sifted flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add butter, eggs, and the frothy yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
- Allow the dough to rise covered for about an hour until it doubles in size.
- Prepare the almond-honey topping by melting butter and mixing in sugar, honey, and sliced almonds; let cool slightly.
- Transfer risen dough to a greased baking pan, spread almond mix on top, and let rise again for 20 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before slicing.
- For the custard filling: heat milk and whisk egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch; combine both mixtures and cook until thickened.
- Cut the cooled cake into two layers; spread custard on the bottom layer and replace the top layer.
