  • Thick-cut bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 baguette
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 or 8-ounce log of goat cheese
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and water in a bowl.
  3. Lay bacon on the baking sheet and rub with the sugar mixture.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes; flip and bake another 10-15 minutes until crispy.
  5. Increase oven temperature to 425°F. Slice the baguette, brush with olive oil, season with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake baguette slices for about 7-10 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Break cooled bacon into pieces and press into goat cheese log on a serving dish. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup.
