  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter (2 for dough, 2 for filling)
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh herbs (thyme, parsley, or rosemary)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add eggs, softened butter, flour, and salt to the yeast mixture; knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  3. Melt butter in a pan; add minced garlic and cook for about 2 minutes. Stir in herbs.
  4. Roll out dough into a rectangle on a floured surface; brush with garlic herb butter and sprinkle mozzarella.
  5. Roll tightly into a log; slice lengthwise and twist halves together with cut sides up.
  6. Place in a greased baking pan; let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C); brush with egg wash and bake for 35–40 minutes until golden brown.
